We are looking for an experienced Deputy AMLCO to strengthen our Financial Crime Compliance function.

As a key member of the second line of defence, you will support the AML Compliance Officer in overseeing the company's Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing framework. You will play an important role in ensuring that regulatory requirements are effectively translated into practical controls, while acting as a trusted advisor to business and operational teams.

The position offers a high degree of exposure to senior management, governance bodies, and cross-functional stakeholders, making it an excellent opportunity for an experienced compliance professional seeking broader strategic responsibilities.

  • Monitor developments in financial crime regulation and assess their impact on the organisation.
  • Contribute to the design, review, and enhancement of AML, sanctions, and financial crime policies and procedures.
  • Challenge first-line controls and ensure risks are appropriately identified, assessed, and mitigated.

Risk Assessment & Regulatory Compliance

  • Contribute to periodic AML risk assessments and enterprise-wide financial crime risk evaluations.
  • Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of controls relating to customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and suspicious activity reporting.
  • Oversee remediation plans arising from audits, regulatory reviews, or internal investigations.
  • Support interactions with supervisory authorities and external auditors where required.

Advisory & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a business partner for operational and commercial teams regarding AML, sanctions, corruption, fraud, and broader financial crime matters.
  • Provide expert compliance guidance during new product launches, strategic initiatives, and process changes.
  • Ensure regulatory expectations are effectively embedded within business practices.

Reporting & Governance Committees

  • Assist in preparing periodic reporting for senior management, executive committees, and governance bodies.
  • Contribute to regulatory reporting and management information dashboards.
  • Escalate material risks, incidents, and control weaknesses appropriately.

Training & Awareness

  • Support the development and delivery of AML/CFT and financial crime training initiatives.
  • Promote a strong compliance culture throughout the organisation.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to colleagues on financial crime-related matters.

Deputy Function

  • Act as deputy to the AMLCO when required.
  • Ensure continuity of oversight activities, governance processes, and regulatory engagement.
  • Represent the AML function in internal meetings and decision-making forums.

Profile

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in AML/CFT, Compliance, Financial Crime, Risk Management, or Internal Control.
  • Experience within insurance, banking, asset management, payments, fintech, or another regulated financial services environment.
  • Previous exposure to second-line compliance responsibilities is essential.
  • Experience interacting with senior stakeholders and governance bodies.
