Head of Risk F/M

We are looking for a Head of Risk freelance to step into a high-impact Number II position within a regulated fintech operating in the crypto and trading space.
This is not a maintenance role.
This is a stabilization, structuring and transformation mandate in a high-pressure, high-visibility regulatory environment.
You will work directly with the CEO and top management, with strong exposure to Group executive level abroad.
 
Your Mission

• Stabilize and strengthen the Risk & Internal Control framework
• Reinforce second line oversight, including IT & Information Security risk
• Ensure alignment with DORA requirements and broader EU regulatory expectations
• Structure governance, formalize processes (currently partially manual), and elevate reporting standards
• Act as a credible and confident counterpart to the CSSF
• Deliver high-level strategic reporting to international Group stakeholders

This role requires autonomy, ownership and the ability to operate without heavy infrastructure or large teams.
 
Scope of Responsibilities

• Enterprise Risk Management framework (risk appetite, risk universe, KRIs, reporting)
• Operational, ICT, market, liquidity and reputational risks
• Internal control framework assessment and enhancement
• Second-line IT risk oversight (not a pure CISO role, but strong understanding of information security governance)
• DORA readiness and ICT governance reinforcement
• Senior management advisory and decision support

 
Profile We Are Looking For

• Minimum 8+ years of experience in Risk Management within a regulated financial institution
• Strong exposure to fintech, trading or crypto environments, payment environment.
• Solid understanding of MiFID environments
• Strong grasp of DORA and ICT risk governance
• Fluent English mandatory
