Our client is a well-established, human-sized asset manager with an international footprint. As part of its continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Manager, Fund Controlling F/M to take on a role with genuine impact: managing a finance team and owning the production of investor reporting for the group's fund structures.
Your role
Reporting directly to senior management, you take full ownership of the fund controlling function: you lead and coach a finance team, you are hands-on on technical and operational matters, and you act as the key link between the finance team, the management company and investors. This is a role for someone who is both a strong technician and comfortable rolling up their sleeves operationally, in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

Your role

This is a role for someone who is both a strong technician and comfortable rolling up their sleeves operationally, in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure the timely and accurate production of financial reports, including fund accounting closes, financial statements, investor reports, cashflow notices, capital accounts and ad hoc investor requests for SIF, RAIF and unregulated structures
- Coach, develop and review the work of a six-person finance team
- Develop and implement finance, valuation and investment monitoring policies and procedures
- Oversee and report on the underlying investments of the funds
- Act as the link between the finance team and senior/managing directors, taking ownership of the team's output
- Respond to ad hoc requests from other departments and from management
- Provide full finance support to the management company, including accounting and budgeting
- Take a leading role in new system and process developments
- Understand and apply the provisions of underlying fund legal documentation in the context of accounting, investment monitoring and fund administration
- Review capital calls and distributions, both from underlying private equity fund investments and to investors
- Respond directly to investor requests
- Plan and manage the fund and AIFM audit process
- Collaborate closely with portfolio management, risk, sales and other teams
Your profile
- At least 8 years of experience in fund accounting / fund controlling within the alternative investments industry, ideally with exposure to private equity structures
- Prior professional experience gained in Luxembourg is required, with a solid understanding of the local fund industry and regulatory environment
- Proven experience managing and developing a team, with the ability to motivate, coach and give feedback
- Ability to perform in a dynamic, high-performance environment with a direct reporting line to senior management
- A strong finance background extending beyond accounting into financial analysis and investor reporting
- Experience reviewing accounting deliverables, with genuine involvement in the analysis underlying the numbers
- Ability to "lead by example," including stepping into a preparer role when needed
- A keen eye for process improvement and automation
- Interest in working across multiple departments and learning new functions (portfolio management, RTA, risk management, etc.)
- Excellent organizational skills, with strong personal motivation to meet deadlines and to drive your team to do the same
- Solid understanding of the Luxembourg regulatory framework (Lux GAAP, relevant CSSF circulars)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, both for team management and for responding to investor requests
- Fluent English required.
