Freelance AMLCO H/F

We are supporting a Financial Institution in Brussels in the search for an experienced Freelance AMLCO. The role includes regular interaction with regulators and senior stakeholders.

In this position, you will lead a team, oversee daily AML/CTF activities, and take ownership of ongoing remediation initiatives. You will play a pivotal role in strengthening processes, enhancing controls, and ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations. Success will be defined by your ability to bring structure, reduce operational backlog, and deliver tangible improvements in the control framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the AML function, including team coordination and coaching
• Drive remediation actions and continuous improvement initiatives
• Act as a key contact for regulatory matters and external stakeholders
• Prepare and deliver reporting to senior management and relevant authorities
• Conduct compliance risk assessments and support risk mitigation efforts
• Advise stakeholders on AML/CTF, KYC, and sanctions-related topics
• Ensure policies, procedures, and controls remain aligned with regulatory and group standards
• Contribute to strengthening the second line control framework and oversight

Profile

• Proven experience in AML/CTF compliance within a financial services environment
• Prior exposure to remediation or transformation programmes
• Solid understanding of Belgian AML regulations (broader EU knowledge is an advantage)
• Experience interacting with regulatory bodies
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Analytical, structured, and hands-on approach
• Fluent in English, with a good command of French and/or Dutch
