Technical Program Manager (Embedded Software)

The Taiwan engineering team plays a key role in the development of next-generation payment terminals and embedded systems that support global payment operations.


About the Team

The team focuses on building technologies that allow businesses to extend their online payment capabilities into physical retail environments.

These solutions support a variety of in-person payment scenarios, including:

  • Retail store checkout systems
  • Pop-up retail experiences
  • Mobile point-of-sale devices for field or event-based transactions

The organization operates globally and collaborates across engineering, product, infrastructure, and business teams.


Role Overview

As a Technical Program Manager (Embedded Software), you will lead complex technical initiatives spanning hardware devices, embedded firmware, APIs, SDKs, and cloud infrastructure that power in-person payment systems.

You will partner with cross-functional teams across engineering, product, documentation, and go-to-market organizations to drive large-scale programs from planning through release.

This role requires strong technical understanding, excellent cross-team coordination, and the ability to manage programs across globally distributed teams.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Program Leadership

  • Lead the planning and execution of large-scale technical programs across multiple engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and go-to-market teams to ensure successful delivery of payment platform capabilities.
  • Support the scalability and reliability of payment infrastructure deployed globally.

Release Management

A key focus of this role will be defining and driving the release management process, including:

  • Coordinating cross-team software releases across embedded systems, APIs, SDKs, and platform services
  • Managing the bundling and rollout of software updates
  • Ensuring safe and reliable deployment of new software versions
  • Working closely with application, SDK, and API service teams to release updated software assets
  • Communicating release updates effectively to both internal stakeholders and external developers
  • Coordinating updates to product documentation, API references, integration guides, migration guides, and changelogs

Platform Lifecycle Management

  • Define and improve release management tools, workflows, and processes
  • Coordinate end-to-end testing and manage test plans
  • Establish and maintain versioning strategies for APIs, SDKs, and embedded software
  • Manage migration processes for users adopting new platform versions
  • Oversee the deprecation of legacy versions while ensuring system stability

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in one of the following areas:
    • Software engineering
    • Platform engineering
    • Technical product management
    • Technical program management
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, from project initiation to product release
  • High standards for system architecture, reliability, and product quality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to drive process improvements across organizations
  • Experience leading initiatives across global teams and multiple time zones
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in complex technical environments

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with developer platforms, APIs, or SDK ecosystems
  • Experience managing releases for large-scale distributed systems
  • Background in embedded systems, hardware devices, or payment technologies
  • Experience delivering infrastructure or platforms with a global footprint
