Welcoming, listening, believing, supporting: an essential mission since 1980
Founded in 1980, the Montreal Sexual Assault Centre (MSAC) is a pioneer in the fight against sexual violence in Quebec. It offers a safe, non-judgemental space where anyone 18 years of age or over affected by sexual violence is welcomed, listened to, believed and supported in accordance with their choices.
A team of over 60 employees delivers its essential services: emergency medico-social intervention, available around the clock in partnership with designated centres; individual clinical follow-up; and the Sexual Violence Helpline, a bilingual, confidential provincial service available at all times. A recognized reference in its field, the MSAC also develops and shares its knowledge and expertise across the network.
The opportunity
With 45 years of credibility and deep roots in the network, the MSAC is entering a new chapter: its Executive Director, who has led the organization for many years, will be retiring. Growing and evolving, supported by a renewed management team and a fully engaged board of directors, the MSAC is seeking the person who will build on these strengths to guide its development, diversify its funding sources and champion its mission with partners. A rare opportunity to lead a flagship, purpose-driven organization at a pivotal moment in its history.
The role
Reporting to the board of directors, the Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the MSAC and serves as the link between the board, the directors and the external environment. The Executive Director sets the organization’s vision and direction, relies on the Clinical Director, the Director of Administrative Services and the communications function, ensures sound management of human, financial and material resources, and supports the board through transparent reporting. As guarantor of the quality and sustainability of services, the Executive Director develops funding and philanthropy strategies, represents the MSAC with its partners and funders, including the ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, the ministère de la Justice and the Secrétariat à la condition féminine, and collaborates with the bodies serving victims of sexual violence.
