Project Manager – Platform Development
Focus – Business and Technology led across a large complex organisation
Sector – Utilities/Large Capital & Construction and Telecoms led (so someone from these sectors essential)
Base – Stevenage in Hertfordshire – min. three times per week (non-negotaible)
Start date – March 2026 start is essential
Contract length – Six months initially
IR35 status – Inside paid via an umbrella
Rate - £600 to £650 per day

 
Purpose of the Role
The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in coordinating and executing activities that underpin the successful delivery of V3 Platform Development. This role ensures structured planning, effective execution, and alignment across technology, business, and vendor teams in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
Operating within an IT Governance Framework, the Project Manager will bring rigour to delivery, proactively manage risks, and support the Programme and Delivery Leads in driving momentum, quality, and clarity across all streams.
 
What You Will Be Doing:

1. Programme & Delivery Coordination
  • Support the orchestration of all Platform Development (V3) workstreams, ensuring alignment, synchronisation, and smooth execution.
  • Maintain and evolve project plans, schedules, and delivery roadmaps to ensure clarity of objectives, timelines, and dependencies.
  • Facilitate regular stand-ups, planning sessions, and checkpoint meetings, ensuring actions, owners, and follow‑ups are consistently tracked.
2. Vendor & SI Management
  • Work closely with the SI Project Lead and technical delivery teams to ensure transparency, effective prioritisation, and alignment to scope.
  • Support the management of change requests, ensuring correct documentation, impact assessment, and adherence to governance.
  • Track deliverables from vendors, ensuring milestones are met and quality criteria are satisfied.
3. Governance, Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Prepare high‑quality weekly highlight reports, dashboards, and briefings that clearly articulate progress, risks, issues, and decisions.
  • Maintain RAID logs with accuracy and discipline, escalating any blockers in a timely manner.
  • Ensure alignment with IT Governance forums, preparing materials for Steering Groups, ARBs, and Programme Boards.
4. Financial & Commercial Oversight
  • Support budget management activities, ensuring accurate forecasting and tracking of spend against baseline.
  • Monitor commercial risks and support contract adherence across relevant delivery partners.
5. Risk, Issue & Dependency Management
  • Proactively identify, track, and manage risks and issues, ensuring mitigation plans are defined and owned.
  • Coordinate cross‑stream dependencies across Technology, Business, Data, and SI teams, ensuring they are visible and well‑managed.
6. Collaborative Delivery
  • Foster strong working relationships across IT, Business SMEs, Architecture, Data, and external vendors.
  • Promote a collaborative, solutions‑focused delivery culture centred on pace, clarity, and high‑quality outcomes.
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience delivering complex technology and transformation projects.
  • Strong grounding in both business and technical delivery, with the ability to translate between the two effectively.
  • Structured and disciplined approach to governance, RAID management, and reporting.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across all organisational levels.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple concurrent workstreams with clear prioritisation.
  • Confident managing suppliers and navigating SI delivery models.
  • Experience working in Agile, Iterative or Hybrid delivery environments.
  • Financial acumen, including cost tracking and commercial awareness.
  • Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Professional certifications preferred: AgilePM, Scrum Master, PRINCE2, Six Sigma.

  • Platform Development deliverables met to agreed scope, timelines, and quality.
  • Strong, reliable cadence of reporting and governance.
  • Dependencies and risks proactively managed with minimal delivery disruption.
  • Stakeholders consistently informed and engaged.
  • Vendors and SI teams effectively coordinated, resulting in predictable delivery.
