Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the enterprise-wide risk management strategy, ensuring it aligns with the company’s growth priorities and regulatory requirements.
- Advise the President, Board of Directors, and executive committees on key risk exposures and emerging trends.
- Develop and champion a strong risk culture that embeds risk awareness and accountability at all levels of the organization.
- Oversee credit policy formulation, credit portfolio management, and risk analytics for corporate and investment banking portfolios.
- Lead the assessment, approval, and monitoring of large corporate exposures, ensuring appropriate credit structures, pricing, and risk-adjusted returns.
- Work closely with business heads to balance risk and reward in credit origination and portfolio decisions.
- Implement and continuously improve integrated risk frameworks covering credit, market, operational, liquidity, and model risks.
- Ensure effective governance, stress testing, early warning systems, and capital adequacy assessments under regulatory standards such as Basel III/IV.
- Monitor macroeconomic, geopolitical, and regulatory developments impacting enterprise risk exposure.
- Lead and develop a global or regional team of 500+ risk professionals, fostering a high-performance, values-driven culture.
- Strengthen talent pipelines and succession planning within the Risk function.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration between Risk, Finance, Compliance, Internal Audit, and Business Divisions.
- Serve as the primary interface with regulators, auditors, and rating agencies on risk-related matters.
- Ensure full compliance with local and international prudential frameworks and corporate governance standards.
- Provide oversight of risk reporting and disclosures to ensure transparency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 20 years of progressive risk management experience within large banking or insurance organizations.
- Deep expertise in credit risk management, particularly corporate banking, structured finance, and large-exposure oversight.
- At least 10 years of senior leadership experience managing large, diverse teams (200+ employees) across geographies or business lines.
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling enterprise risk frameworks in complex, multi-line financial institutions.
- Advanced understanding of regulatory expectations (Basel, IFRS 9, local prudential norms, etc.).
- Strong academic foundation: Master’s degree (MBA, Finance, Economics, or related); professional certifications such as FRM, CFA, or PRM preferred.
- Strategic thinker with an analytical mindset and a deep understanding of business dynamics.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- High integrity, sound judgment, and a commitment to ethical governance.
- Ability to balance risk discipline with business enablement, fostering sustainable enterprise growth.
