Overview
We are partnering with a leading specialty chemicals company to recruit a proactive and commercially minded Distribution Channel Manager. This role will own channel strategy and execution across Singapore (with regional coordination as required), driving growth through distributor and reseller networks while ensuring excellent customer experience and channel compliance. The ideal candidate combines strong channel management experience with technical commercial acumen, stakeholder management skills and a results-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Channel Strategy & Execution: Develop and implement distribution channel strategies to maximise sales, market share and margin across target segments in Singapore.
- Distributor Management: Select, onboard and manage relationships with distributors and channel partners; set clear objectives, commercial terms and performance expectations.
- Business Development: Identify and recruit new channel partners and opportunities; support partners with market development activities to grow revenue.
- Sales Enablement: Equip distributors with pricing guidelines, product information, technical support, marketing materials and training to improve sell-in and sell-through.
- Commercial Planning: Own channel business plans, forecasts and budgets; monitor performance against targets and drive corrective actions where needed.
- Contracting & Compliance: Negotiate distribution agreements, terms and conditions; ensure partners comply with commercial policies, branding guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Channel Marketing & Promotions: Partner with marketing to design and execute channel-specific promotions, campaigns and co‑op activities to stimulate demand.
- Customer & Market Insight: Gather market and competitor intelligence from the channel; translate insights into actionable plans for product positioning, pricing and promotional tactics.
- Cross‑functional Collaboration: Work closely with regional sales, technical service, supply chain and product teams to ensure product availability, pricing alignment and high service levels.
- KPI Reporting & Analysis: Track and report on channel KPIs (sales, margins, inventory turns, distributor performance); present regular updates to senior management and recommend improvements.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Chemical Engineering, Science or related discipline. A post-graduate qualification is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in distribution/channel management or B2B sales in chemicals, industrial materials, specialty ingredients, or related technical industries. Experience working with distributors in Southeast Asia is advantageous.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong commercial and negotiation skills with proven ability to drive profitable channel growth.
- Technical Aptitude: Comfortable engaging on technical product discussions and coordinating with technical service teams.
- Communication: Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills in English; proficiency in other regional languages is advantageous.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse sales and market data to derive insights and make data-driven decisions.
- Personal Attributes: Strategic thinker with strong execution focus, resilient, relationship-driven, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
