Job Title: Financial Controller
Location: Singapore
Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Financial Controller to lead and oversee the finance function for a business in Singapore. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, robust internal controls, statutory compliance, and strong financial governance. The Financial Controller will partner with cross-functional leaders to drive process improvements, support forecasting and budgeting, and ensure timely month-end and year-end closings.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience in controlling/financial management, a proven record of managing statutory and audit processes, and deep knowledge of accounting standards and internal control frameworks in a corporate environment.
Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Close Management:
Own and manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting. -
Management Reporting:
Prepare and present financial statements and management reports, including analysis of variances vs budget/forecast. -
Statutory Compliance & Tax:
Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, including audit readiness, GST/VAT where applicable, corporate tax filings, and regulatory reporting. -
Internal Controls & Governance:
Establish, maintain, and enhance internal controls; ensure finance policies and procedures are followed and documented. -
Audit & External Stakeholders:
Manage external audit activities and serve as key liaison with auditors, tax agents, and other external parties. -
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning Support:
Drive or support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes; provide financial insights to leadership. -
Cash Flow & Working Capital Oversight:
Monitor cash flow, working capital performance, and related risks; partner to improve collections and reduce friction in payables where appropriate. -
Process Improvement & Automation:
Identify opportunities to improve finance processes (e.g., standardisation, automation, workflow efficiency) to enhance accuracy and timeliness. -
Team Leadership & Talent Development:
Lead, develop, and manage the finance team; ensure capability and ownership across key finance activities.
Qualifications

Experience:
Typically 8–12 years of progressive finance experience, including controlling/financial control responsibilities, with at least 3+ years in a management/lead role. -
Accounting & Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of accounting standards and financial reporting requirements applicable to Singapore (and ideally regional exposure). -
Audit & Compliance Leadership:
Demonstrated experience managing external audits, statutory reporting, and finance compliance frameworks. -
Controls Mindset:
Proven ability to design and strengthen internal controls and governance routines. -
Analytical & Business Partnering Skills:
Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret financial performance, and provide actionable recommendations. -
Systems & Tools:
Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel; familiarity with reporting tools is a plus. -
Communication:
Strong communication skills in English; ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders. -
Professional Qualification:
CPA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent preferred.
