Great opportunity for Costing Experts in the Apparel Manufacturing Industry
At Morgan Philips Mexico, we are seeking a Costing Engineer to join an international company in the apparel and textile sector. This key position is part of the sourcing and production team, responsible for ensuring accurate product cost estimation, optimizing processes, and collaborating cross-functionally with global teams.

Position Purpose
The Costing Engineer will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and maintaining detailed product cost estimates for apparel items, covering raw materials, trims, labor, and overhead. The role ensures accurate costing during product development, supports vendor price negotiations, and identifies opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality or lead time.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed cost breakdowns for apparel styles, including fabrics, trims, labor, freight, duties, and overhead.
- Collaborate with Product Development and Design.
- Analyze vendor quotations, validate costing assumptions, and support price negotiations.
- Partner with Sourcing and Production teams to identify cost reduction opportunities.
- Maintain updated cost libraries for materials, trims, and labor rates across regions and suppliers.
- Provide cost scenarios and sensitivity analyses during product development and seasonal line planning and conduct margin impact analyses to support pricing strategies.
- Maintain documentation and reporting for cost comparisons, variance analysis, and vendor performance.
- Collaborate with Planning and Supply Chain to achieve KPIs such as On-Time Performance and Buy Acceptance Rates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Textile/Apparel Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in apparel costing, garment engineering, or product development.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, sewing operations, materials, trims, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in Excel; ERP or PLM system experience preferred.
- Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret technical packs, BOMs, and consumption/yield calculations.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
