Job Title: Sr Training Manager
Location: Shanghai (On-site / hybrid as determined)
Overview
We are recruiting a Senior Training Manager to lead and oversee enterprise-wide training strategy for a leading pharmaceutical organisation in Shanghai. This role designs, implements and continuously improves training programs that build capability across sales/medical/commercial functions. The ideal candidate will have strong learning and development expertise, experience in regulated healthcare environments, and proven ability to drive measurable performance outcomes through structured training frameworks and stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
- Training Strategy & Roadmap
- Own the annual training plan, learning roadmap and training governance for assigned functions/teams.
- Align training priorities with business objectives, market needs, and capability gaps.
- Program Design & Delivery
- Design and deliver training programs across product knowledge, selling skills, medical/clinical education (as applicable), compliance training, and communication skills.
- Develop instructor-led and blended learning solutions (classroom, e-learning, workshops, coaching).
- Sales Enablement / Capability Building
- Build training effectiveness through onboarding programs, certification processes, refresher trainings and field enablement.
- Implement coaching frameworks and practical skill development for frontline teams.
- Training Operations & Governance
- Manage training logistics, schedules, materials, facilitation plans, and participant tracking.
- Ensure training documentation and records are maintained in accordance with internal procedures and applicable regulations.
- Effectiveness Measurement
- Define and track KPIs (e.g., training completion, assessment scores, competency uplift, field performance indicators).
- Use training analytics and feedback to continuously improve content and delivery methods.
- Stakeholder & Agency Management
- Collaborate with HR, Commercial, Medical, Compliance, and Regional leadership to ensure training relevance.
- Manage external training vendors/partners where applicable, ensuring quality and consistency.
- Compliance & Medical Ethics
- Ensure all training content and delivery approaches meet regulatory, compliance and ethical requirements.
- Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated on best practices in learning, talent development and performance improvement, and propose enhancements.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or above (preferably in HRD, Education, Business, Pharmacy/Science, or related discipline).
- Experience: Typically 8–12+ years of experience in training / learning & development within pharma / healthcare / FMCG / regulated industries, including at least 3+ years in a senior or managerial training role.
- Pharmaceutical / Healthcare Knowledge: Experience supporting commercial teams and understanding of healthcare/biopharma environments is strongly preferred.
- Training Leadership: Proven ability to design training frameworks, lead multiple programs, and manage stakeholders across regions.
- Assessment & Analytics: Experience with competency models, assessments and using training metrics to drive improvements.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills in Mandarin and English (depending on scope and stakeholder needs).
- Project & Change Management: Strong planning, execution and change leadership skills; comfortable in fast-paced environments.
- Compliance Awareness: Knowledge of pharmaceutical compliance training expectations and governance.
