Engineering Manager – Advanced Photonic Systems

We are supporting a global high-tech company to hire an Engineering Manager to lead the design, development, and product release of advanced photonic communication modules in collaboration with external design and manufacturing partners (ODM/EMS).

This role will own the end-to-end New Product Development (NPD) process, including product definition, partner coordination, validation, and qualification to ensure successful market launch.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the full product development lifecycle for advanced photonic communication modules, from concept and prototyping through production and market release

• Define product specifications, development plans, and budgets in collaboration with internal marketing, engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality teams

• Partner closely with external ODM engineering teams to ensure execution performance and project delivery

• Oversee design, development, and testing to ensure performance, reliability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards

• Establish decision-making processes, roles, and governance to drive timely execution

• Resolve technical challenges with internal engineering support to keep development on track

• Lead contract and technical specification negotiations with external partners

• Communicate effectively across all organizational levels and global stakeholders

Required Experience

• 5+ years of new product development experience, including multiple product cycles from concept to revenue

• Minimum 2 years in a technical leadership or people/project leadership role

• Proven expertise in advanced communication modules, photonic systems, semiconductor-based assemblies, or related technologies

• Strong project management capabilities (MS Project, Jira, or similar tools)

• Familiarity with manufacturing processes, quality systems, and regulatory requirements for high-reliability hardware products

• Excellent problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering complex programs on schedule and within budget

• Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills

• Strong execution mindset with urgency and ownership

Preferred Education

• PhD + 5 years, MS + 5 years, or BS + 7 years

• Background in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Semiconductor Materials, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields
