Strategic Treaty Underwriter (F/M) - Reinsurance

My client is looking for a commercially minded and relationship-driven Strategic Treaty Underwriter (F/M)  to join its international P&C reinsurance team. Beyond strong technical underwriting capabilities, this role requires someone who genuinely enjoys being in direct contact with brokers and clients, developing long-term partnerships, and representing the company across international markets.

You will play a key role in developing and managing a diversified treaty portfolio across Europe and Asia, with a strong focus on client engagement, strategic discussions, and market development. The position combines technical underwriting expertise with a highly business-facing dimension, including regular travel and active participation in negotiations and market meetings.

Your Key Responsibilities :

Treaty Underwriting & Portfolio Management

• Underwrite and manage complex P&C treaty reinsurance business in line with underwriting strategy and risk appetite.
• Assess exposures across Property and Third-Party Liability lines, including catastrophe-exposed business.
• Structure and price treaty programs using actuarial analysis, catastrophe models, and underwriting judgement.
• Monitor portfolio performance, accumulations, and profitability metrics to support sustainable and profitable growth.

Client & Market Relationship Management

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, cedants, and business partners across international markets.
• Act as a key contact for clients, ensuring responsiveness, commercial understanding, and long-term partnership development.
• Represent the company during client visits, market meetings, renewals, negotiations, and industry events.
• Identify new business opportunities and contribute to the growth of the treaty portfolio across targeted regions.

Strategic Contribution & Collaboration

• Work closely with actuarial, claims, risk management, and finance teams to support portfolio steering and underwriting governance.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of underwriting tools, processes, and best practices.
• Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate.
• Actively contribute to the overall excellence and development of a dynamic and collaborative organisation.

Your Profile : 

• 7+ years of experience in P&C treaty reinsurance underwriting.
• Fluent in English
• Strong exposure to international markets, ideally across Europe and/or Asia.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine client-oriented mindset.
• Ability to combine technical underwriting expertise with strong commercial judgement.
• Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment.
• Experience with catastrophe modelling tools such as RMS or AIR.
