Key Responsibilities
Scientific Leadership & Strategic Counsel
- Maintain a thorough understanding of client brands, therapeutic areas, competitive landscapes, and emerging scientific developments to provide strategic medical communications guidance.
- Serve as the project lead for assigned accounts, providing expert counsel and ensuring all strategies and deliverables are scientifically robust, accurate, and aligned with client objectives.
- Translate complex scientific and clinical data into clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate communications.
- Guide account teams on scientific strategy and content development to ensure consistency, relevance, and impact.
Content Development & Project Delivery
- Lead the planning, development, review, and delivery of scientific content across a wide range of medical communications initiatives, ensuring excellence in quality, compliance, and timeliness.
- Oversee the scientific and editorial aspects of projects and events, including advisory boards, congress activities, speaker programmes, workshops, and other client engagements.
- Participate in and lead scientific discussions during client briefings, content reviews, expert meetings, and advisory boards.
- Convert client and stakeholder requirements into clear, actionable briefs to support efficient project execution.
Client Partnership & Business Growth
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, key opinion leaders, and external experts, establishing credibility through scientific expertise and strategic insight.
- Proactively identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and contribute to organic business growth.
- Partner with Business Managers and Business Directors in the development of proposals, pitches, and new business opportunities.
- Provide scientific input into project scoping, resource planning, and budget development.
People Leadership & Capability Building
- Manage scientific team members as appropriate, setting objectives, supporting professional development, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Mentor, coach, and train colleagues on scientific content development, therapeutic area expertise, compliance requirements, and medical communications best practices.
- Foster a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing across teams.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Advanced degree in a life science or healthcare discipline, including PhD, MSc, MD, PharmD, Nursing, or other relevant healthcare qualification.
- 5 to 10 years of experience within a healthcare communications, medical communications, or related agency environment, with a strong scientific/editorial focus.
- Demonstrated experience managing scientific content development and delivering medical communications programmes across both in-person and virtual platforms.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail and scientific accuracy.
- Strong ability to interpret and communicate complex scientific information in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.
- Excellent stakeholder management, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Collaborative, adaptable, and solutions-oriented working style.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
Preferred
- Experience leading client accounts and contributing to business development activities.
- Prior people management and coaching experience.
- Expertise in one or more key therapeutic areas and familiarity with healthcare industry compliance standards.
