The Opportunity
We are looking for a driven and commercially minded Underwriter to manage a diversified portfolio of delegated authority partnerships and direct insurance business across Europe. This role reports into senior underwriting leadership and is part of a growing specialty division with close collaboration across international teams.
You will operate with a high level of autonomy while remaining closely connected to colleagues across key European insurance hubs.
Your Responsibilities

Underwriting & Risk Assessment
- Evaluate, analyse, and price risks in line with underwriting strategy, guidelines, and appetite
- Review new insurance programs, assessing structure, exposure, and compliance
- Support underwriting decisions through data-driven analysis and sound technical judgment

Portfolio Management
- Take ownership of a portfolio of business, managing performance, profitability, and growth
- Monitor and steer portfolio results (P&L) against financial targets
- Track loss ratios, claims trends, and key performance indicators

MGA & Broker Relationships
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with MGAs and brokers across Europe
- Identify and develop new business opportunities within existing and new networks
- Conduct negotiations and collaborate on program structures and renewals

Delegated Authority Oversight
- Ensure effective oversight of delegated underwriting arrangements
- Monitor adherence to agreed terms, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards
- Review management information (MI) and ensure reporting accuracy

Contract & Documentation Management
- Review policy wordings and contractual documentation
- Act as an authorized signatory where required
- Ensure data integrity, proper filing, and accurate system input

Reporting & Governance
- Produce regular underwriting and portfolio performance reports
- Maintain strong discipline around internal controls, governance, and compliance frameworks
Your Profile
- Minimum 6 years of underwriting or broking experience within the European insurance market
- Strong technical underwriting expertise across multiple product lines
- Experience with delegated authority / MGA structures
- Solid understanding of European insurance frameworks and terminology
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with strong attention to detail
- Fluent in English (additional European languages are a plus)
- Proven relationship-building skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams
- High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
