Job Title: Medical Affairs Manager
Location: Hong Kong
Overview
We are recruiting a Medical Affairs Manager to join a leading global biopharmaceutical organisation in Hong Kong. In this role, you will provide medical/scientific leadership and strategic support to internal teams and external stakeholders. You will build and execute medical strategy, manage evidence generation activities, ensure appropriate scientific communication, and contribute to lifecycle planning in compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Medical Strategy & Planning
- Support development and execution of medical strategy for assigned therapeutic areas and/or products.
- Contribute to lifecycle planning, evidence strategy, and medical affairs priorities aligned with business goals.
- Medical Scientific Exchange
- Lead compliant scientific and medical information exchanges with healthcare professionals (HCPs), academic institutions, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure all interactions are accurate, fair-balanced, and in line with approved materials and regulations.
- Evidence Generation
- Plan, coordinate and oversee real-world evidence (RWE), observational studies, registry initiatives, and/or clinical/scientific engagements as applicable.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners (e.g., study sites, vendors) to support data collection and documentation.
- Scientific Communication
- Support creation of medical content (e.g., abstracts, posters, slide decks) and contribute to medical publications and scientific congress strategy.
- Review scientific materials for accuracy, consistency and compliance with internal requirements.
- Stakeholder & KOL Management
- Identify, engage and manage KOLs and key stakeholders to advance medical knowledge and support evidence plans.
- Maintain appropriate transparency, documentation and governance for external engagements.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Clinical Operations, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access/Commercial, Market Research, and Quality teams.
- Provide medical input into brand planning, claims strategy, and product lifecycle decisions.
- Compliance & Ethics
- Ensure adherence to Medical Affairs compliance requirements, SOPs, SOP training, and local/regional regulatory expectations.
- Maintain appropriate documentation for scientific interactions and engagements.
- Reporting & Metrics
- Provide regular reporting on medical activities, insights gathered, and progress against medical objectives.
- Translate field insights into actionable recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Education: Medical degree, PhD, PharmD, MSc, or Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences/Pharmacy/Medicine or related discipline (advanced degree preferred).
- Experience: Typically 5+ years of experience in Medical Affairs and/or scientific functions within the biopharmaceutical industry (with increasing responsibility).
- Therapeutic Area Knowledge: Experience in relevant therapeutic areas is preferred (specific TA requirements to be confirmed during recruitment).
- Compliance & Quality Mindset: Strong understanding of GxP/Maintenance of medical ethics, local regulations, and compliant HCP engagement processes.
- Scientific & Clinical Aptitude: Ability to interpret scientific data and translate it into medical discussions.
- Communication Skills: Fluent in English; Cantonese/Mandarin proficiency is a plus depending on stakeholder needs.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and lead projects with minimal supervision.
- Project Management: Experience coordinating medical/scientific projects and external activities (vendors, study sites, KOL engagements).
