Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and analytical Test Development Engineer to ensure the ultimate performance, efficiency, and reliability of our next-generation cloud and data center power solutions.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing sophisticated automated test plans for Power System Control (PSC) and Power Management Controllers (PMC). Utilizing advanced validation methodologies such as Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), you will validate critical control algorithms, verify intricate electrical functions, and ensure full compliance with global safety and regulatory standards.
Core Responsibilities
1. Test Planning & Strategic Alignment
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware design, product management, and manufacturing teams to define stringent testing requirements.
-
Develop comprehensive, end-to-end test plans establishing robust methodologies, resource allocation, timelines, and clear success criteria.
-
Define and implement industry best practices for power electronics testing and validation processes.
2. Test Design & Automation Architecture
-
Design, build, and optimize specialized test fixtures, automated execution scripts, and advanced setups for next-generation architecture PSC/PMC validation.
-
Create highly detailed test cases and technical procedures anchored in strict product specifications and international standards.
-
Oversee the precise calibration, maintenance, and capability of advanced laboratory test equipment.
3. Execution, Data Analysis & Reporting
-
Perform rigorous functional, environmental, and stress tests to validate long-term system reliability.
-
Analyze complex test datasets, including input/output (IO) reporting and process capability indices (CPK data), to identify trends, anomalies, and structural areas for improvement.
-
Transform raw test data into high-impact, actionable insights and engineering recommendations for leadership.
4. Root Cause Analysis & Problem Resolution
-
Partner closely with project lead engineers to diagnose, isolate, and resolve systemic hardware and firmware issues.
-
Conduct thorough root-cause analysis (RCA) on test failures and drive the implementation of effective corrective actions.
5. Documentation & Knowledge Management
-
Maintain meticulous, audit-ready documentation of all test plans, procedures, and empirical results.
-
Contribute actively to internal engineering knowledge bases and best-practice repositories to foster continuous team development.
The Experience & Qualifications We Are Looking For
Background & Education
-
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
-
Experience: 3 to 8 years of solid experience in PSC/PMC and high-frequency signal system testing.
-
Leadership: Proven track record of successfully leading testing projects or coordinating small technical validation teams.
Technical Expertise
-
System Knowledge: Deep understanding of advanced data center open rack power architecture design principles, testing methodologies, PSC/PMC functionalities, and safety standards.
-
Equipment Proficiency: Hands-on mastery of advanced laboratory test equipment (including digital oscilloscopes, precision multimeters, programmable electronic loads, and environmental chambers).
-
Automation & Scripting: Strong proficiency with automated testing environments and scripting languages such as Python, C/C++, or VBScript.
Soft Skills & Execution
-
Outstanding analytical mindset with exceptional problem-solving capabilities under tight timelines.
-
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to bridge communication between design and manufacturing teams.
-
Superb organizational skills to manage multiple validation streams and priorities simultaneously.
Preferred & Nice-to-Have Qualifications
-
Protocols: Experience verifying low-level and industrial communication protocols, including I²C, PMBus, CANbus, Modbus, and Ethernet (via PMC) for system-level control and telemetry diagnostics.
-
Compliance & Standards: Practical experience with global regulatory compliance and safety testing (e.g., UL, CE, FCC).
-
Lab Standards: Familiarity with hardware EMI/EMC testing procedures, chambers, and standards.
-
Modern Workflows: Familiarity with Agile frameworks and project management/version control tools (e.g., JIRA, Bitbucket).
