The Market Access Director will lead the strategy and execution of access initiatives to ensure timely, sustainable, and competitive access for the company’s portfolio in Mexico. This role requires a deep understanding of the national healthcare ecosystem, strong relationships with key stakeholders, and the ability to translate clinical and economic value into compelling access strategies for both public and private sectors.
The position reports to the Country General Manager and collaborates closely with Medical, Government Affairs, Commercial, and Global/Regional Market Access teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Access Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive market access strategies for new and existing products across therapeutic areas. Lead pricing, reimbursement, and value positioning strategies aligned with global and local objectives. Anticipate policy, regulatory, and payer trends to identify risks and opportunities for the portfolio.
Public Sector Access: Drive inclusion in national formularies and institutional purchasing lists (IMSS, ISSSTE, CCINSHAE, PEMEX, SEDENA, SEMAR). Lead health technology assessment (HTA) submissions, budget impact models, and pharmacoeconomic evaluations. Build strong relationships with institutional decision makers and technical committees.
Private Sector Access: Develop access strategies for private hospitals, insurers, and pharmacy benefit managers. Negotiate commercial agreements and support the development of patient access programs. Strengthen partnerships with private payers to expand coverage and reduce barriers to treatment.
Value & Evidence Generation: Oversee the development of value dossiers, real world evidence (RWE), and economic models to support pricing and reimbursement. Ensure alignment of clinical, medical, and economic narratives to reinforce product value. Collaborate with Medical Affairs to generate local evidence that supports payer needs.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with payers, policymakers, scientific societies, and patient associations. Partner with Government Affairs to shape policy discussions and anticipate regulatory changes. Represent the company in relevant forums, working groups, and industry associations.
Cross Functional Leadership: Lead and mentor the Market Access team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and strategic thinking.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Economics, Public Health, Pharmacy, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the Mexican healthcare system, HTA processes, and payer landscape.
• Proven experience leading pricing and reimbursement strategies for innovative therapies.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with senior institutional stakeholders and influence decision making.
• Strong analytical, strategic, and communication skills.
• Leadership experience managing teams and cross functional projects.
