Our client, a globally recognized manufacturing organization within the FMCG sector, is seeking an experienced Associate Director, Plant Engineering to lead engineering operations at a key production facility in Malaysia. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal plant performance, asset reliability, and engineering excellence while upholding the highest standards in safety, quality, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Plant Engineering & Asset Management: Ensure all production equipment operates at optimal efficiency through structured maintenance strategies, asset lifecycle planning, and continuous improvement practices.
- Maintenance Strategy & Budget Control: Develop and manage maintenance budgets, implement preventive maintenance plans, and drive autonomous maintenance initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Technical Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and oversee engineering teams, contractors, and third-party service providers to ensure efficient and safe plant operations.
- Capital Investment & Project Management: Oversee capital expenditure planning and execution (multi-million USD), including procurement and installation of plant equipment and industrial systems.
- Engineering Project Execution: Participate in and drive cross-functional engineering projects, including new equipment installation, upgrades, and automation initiatives.
- Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and enhance product quality.
- Sustainability & Energy Management: Lead site-level sustainability initiatives, focusing on energy efficiency and environmental impact reduction in line with corporate goals.
Key Qualifications & Requirements
- Extensive Engineering Experience: Minimum 12 years of experience in engineering roles within manufacturing environments, preferably FMCG, food, or consumer goods industries.
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in maintenance management, industrial services, automation, or electrical & instrumentation engineering.
- Leadership Capability: Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams while fostering collaboration across functions.
- Project & Capital Management Skills: Demonstrated experience managing large-scale capital projects and engineering investments in a manufacturing setting.
- Performance & Compliance Mindset: Strong focus on KPIs, safety, quality, and regulatory compliance with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
