We are looking for a leader who thrives in a hands-on environment, isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves, and is passionate about building robust, long-term supplier relationships. You will be instrumental in shaping our sourcing strategy, optimizing our operational processes, and leading a talented team of merchandisers. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management: Develop and execute comprehensive sourcing strategies. Manage, strengthen, and expand our portfolio of approximately 15 core manufacturing partners, primarily in China, while actively identifying and developing new key factory partnerships for long-term cooperation across Asia.
- Negotiation & Cost Optimization: Lead complex negotiations on price holds, claims/cost recovery, and resolve rework/tooling issues to ensure competitive pricing and protect profit margins.
- Operational Leadership: Oversee daily operational business in Hong Kong, including merchandise management, meticulous order follow-up, and efficient shipping department coordination. Act as the primary liaison with our quality control team in China.
- Team Leadership & Development: Provide strong leadership, coaching, and management to our team of merchandisers across various product categories, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Relationship Building & Problem Solving: Be a highly visible and engaged leader, comfortable with frequent factory visits across China (mainly Zhejiang Province) and occasional trips to Vietnam and Malaysia. Build trust through in-person meetings and proactively resolve supplier disputes with a hands-on approach.
- Risk Mitigation: Manage escalations effectively to safeguard on-time delivery and maintain product quality standards.
Who You Are
- Experienced Leader: You bring substantial experience (ideally 15+ years) in strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, and operational leadership, preferably within a smaller, agile company environment where a hands-on approach is essential.
- Global Mindset: Proven track record of successfully navigating and building relationships within the Chinese manufacturing landscape, with prior experience traveling and dealing directly with factory owners.
- Trilingual Communicator: Near-native proficiency in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English is essential. Your strong cross-cultural communication skills enable effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including our Foreign Managing Director and clients in Europe.
- Manufacturing Acumen: Prior knowledge of manufacturing processes and the ability to discuss production and tooling topics fluently in all three required languages is a significant advantage.
- Product Knowledge: Experience with electrical devices or similar product categories is preferred. Familiarity with European retail markets is a plus.
