About the Company

Our client is a leading global smart home technology and IoT consumer electronics brand, renowned for its cutting-edge video streaming and connected ecosystem solutions. They are seeking a visionary Technical Lead / Principal Firmware Engineer to spearhead the architecture and delivery of their next-generation intelligent device portfolio.

Core Responsibilities

  • Architectural Leadership: Lead the end-to-end architecture, design, and development of high-performance embedded firmware for next-generation IoT and advanced video streaming products.

  • Product Delivery: Drive engineering efforts from concept to commercialization, ensuring high-quality, reliable, and secure firmware solutions under optimized timelines.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with internal Hardware, Cloud, Mobile, and QA teams, as well as external global ODM partners, to achieve seamless system integration.

  • Hands-on Development: Design, debug, and integrate complex embedded software components, including device drivers, communication protocols, RTOS, and platform firmware.

  • Hardware Evaluation: Assess and integrate next-gen SoCs, chipsets, image sensors, and wireless modules into future hardware roadmap platforms.

  • System Optimization: Analyze board schematics and component datasheets to optimize memory footprint, power consumption, boot times, and system reliability.

  • Root-Cause Analysis: Troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level anomalies spanning hardware, firmware, networking, and cloud touchpoints.

  • Mentorship & Culture: Provide technical guidance through rigorous design/code reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting team growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Experience: 7+ years of deep expertise in embedded firmware development, with a proven track record in network-connected devices and real-time multimedia systems.

  • Programming Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in Embedded C and C++.

  • OS Frameworks: Strong experience building on RTOS and Embedded Linux platforms.

  • Multimedia Systems: Deep understanding of real-time video/audio processing, compression standards (H.264 / H.265), and streaming technologies.

  • Concurrency: Extensive experience with multithreaded, multitasking, and asynchronous embedded software design.

  • Networking & Wireless: Robust knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP/S, RTP, RTSP, SIP, WebRTC) and wireless standards (Wi-Fi, BLE, LTE).

  • Hardware Tools: Hands-on experience with hardware debugging equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal/protocol analyzers) and modern Git workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience developing firmware specifically for consumer IoT, smart home ecosystems, or IP cameras.

  • Familiarity with modern IoT connectivity protocols (e.g., Matter, Thread, Zigbee, Z-Wave).

  • Deep understanding of Linux kernel internals, memory management, and file systems.

  • Experience optimizing bootloaders (e.g., U-Boot) for fast-boot performance.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, or Lua) for automation and testing.
