Technology Development Manager – AIDC, Power & Thermal Materials

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Technology Development Manager to drive new technology development and strategic business growth within the AI Data Center (AIDC), ICT, Server Power, Power Electronics, and Thermal Management markets.

This is a senior, customer-facing role combining Technology Development, Business Development, Pre-Sales, Technical Marketing, and Application Engineering responsibilities.

The position will serve as a key technical and commercial bridge between strategic global customers and internal R&D, Product, Sales, Marketing, and Application Engineering teams. The primary objective is to identify emerging technology requirements, develop new material applications, drive early-stage design-in and specification activities, and convert technology opportunities into sustainable commercial business.

The successful candidate should possess strong knowledge of advanced electronic materials, thermal management, adhesives, power electronics, and server/data center applications, together with the ability to engage directly with customer R&D and technology decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business & Technology Development

  • Identify emerging technology trends, customer requirements, and growth opportunities across AI Data Centers, ICT infrastructure, Server Power, Power Electronics, and Thermal Management.
  • Develop and execute market penetration and technology development strategies for strategic customers and high-growth applications.
  • Identify new applications and underpenetrated opportunities where advanced materials can improve thermal performance, reliability, electrical performance, manufacturing efficiency, or system integration.
  • Build a sustainable pipeline of new technology programs, applications, and commercial opportunities.
  • Translate market trends and customer technology roadmaps into actionable business and product development opportunities.
  • Develop business cases, market assessments, competitive analysis, and value propositions for new technology initiatives.

AIDC & Advanced Materials Development

  • Drive new material opportunities for next-generation AI servers, data center infrastructure, power delivery systems, power supplies, and high-power electronic applications.
  • Develop opportunities involving advanced materials such as:
    • Thermal Interface Materials (TIM)
    • Thermally Conductive Materials
    • Adhesives & Encapsulation Materials
    • Underfills
    • Electronic & Electrical Insulation Materials
    • Semiconductor / Advanced Packaging Materials
  • Identify technology gaps and performance bottlenecks related to heat dissipation, thermal efficiency, power density, reliability, and material integration.
  • Work with customers and internal technology teams to develop differentiated material solutions for next-generation product architectures.

Customer R&D Engagement & Design-In

  • Develop strong relationships with customer R&D, Engineering, Technology Development, Product Development, and Strategic Sourcing teams.
  • Engage customers during the early stages of product and technology development to understand future product roadmaps and technical requirements.
  • Lead design-in, spec-in, technical evaluation, and material qualification activities for new applications.
  • Translate customer technical requirements into material specifications and internal development priorities.
  • Position technical solutions based on measurable customer value, including performance improvement, reliability, thermal efficiency, process optimization, and total cost of ownership.

Technical Pre-Sales & Application Engineering

  • Act as a senior technical interface for strategic customer programs and complex application requirements.
  • Provide technical consultation and solution recommendations for Power Supply, Power Electronics, EV-related applications, Industrial Electronics, and other established electronic applications.
  • Coordinate product testing, validation, qualification, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Support customers in optimizing material selection and manufacturing processes.
  • Partner with internal R&D, Quality, and Application Engineering teams to resolve complex technical and product-performance issues.

Technology & Market Intelligence

  • Monitor technology evolution across AI/HPC infrastructure, Data Centers, Server Power, Power Electronics, Thermal Management, and Advanced Electronic Materials.
  • Analyze competitor technologies, materials, market positioning, and emerging applications.
  • Map customer technology roadmaps, organizational structures, engineering decision-makers, and product development priorities.
  • Provide strategic market and customer insights to support future product roadmap, R&D investment, and innovation priorities.
  • Identify new technologies and applications that strategic customers may enter before they become established markets.

Cross-Functional & Program Leadership

  • Lead strategic technology and customer programs from opportunity identification through qualification, design-in, NPI, and commercialization.
  • Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders across R&D, Application Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain.
  • Establish clear project objectives, development milestones, technical deliverables, and commercialization plans.
  • Drive alignment across regional and global teams for strategic customer and technology-development initiatives.
  • Influence internal and external stakeholders to accelerate project execution and technology adoption.

Key Performance Indicators

Success in this position will be measured through:

  • Opportunity Pipeline Growth: Value and quality of new technology and business opportunities generated.
  • Design Wins / Spec-Ins: Successful material specifications secured in new customer platforms and product roadmaps.
  • Technology Penetration: Expansion into new applications and previously underpenetrated customer business areas.
  • Project Conversion: Conversion of identified opportunities into technical qualification, NPI, and commercial stages.
  • Customer Engagement: Depth of relationships with strategic R&D, engineering, technology, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Project Execution: Successful progression of technology-development programs from concept through commercialization.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or another relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Technical Business Development, Technology Development, Technical Sales, Pre-Sales, Product/Application Management, or Application Engineering within the electronics, semiconductor, chemical, or advanced materials industries.
  • Proven experience working with leading OEMs, ODMs, power electronics manufacturers, server/data center ecosystem companies, or other Tier-1 technology customers.
  • Strong technical knowledge in one or more of the following:
    • Thermal Management / TIM
    • Adhesives & Electronic Materials
    • Semiconductor / Advanced Packaging Materials
    • Power Electronics
    • Server Power / Power Supply
    • AI Data Center / HPC Hardware
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between materials, thermal performance, power density, electronic system architecture, and manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing design-in, specification, qualification, or NPI projects.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear commercial value propositions and business opportunities.
  • Strong B2B customer engagement and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Excellent project management and cross-functional leadership skills.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with an understanding of business cases, investment priorities, and P&L considerations.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment with the ability to challenge existing approaches and drive change.

Language Requirements

  • Mandarin: Native or fluent proficiency.
  • English: Professional business proficiency in both written and verbal communication.
