The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Director of Business Development to drive market expansion and revenue growth within Taiwan's commercial and industrial (C&I) sector.
This role will lead the development of strategic customer relationships, channel partnerships, and large-scale energy transformation projects, with a particular focus on energy management platforms, battery energy storage solutions (BESS), smart metering, and related software-driven energy optimization technologies.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the complete sales lifecycle—from opportunity identification and business case development through contract negotiation and project award. This is a highly visible leadership position with strong long-term career growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
Market Development & Strategic Sales
- Develop and execute market expansion strategies targeting large industrial and manufacturing customers.
- Identify and engage key decision-makers across sectors including electronics, semiconductors, chemical processing, plastics, food & beverage, and other energy-intensive industries.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities through direct engagement and partner channels.
Consultative Solution Selling
- Conduct customer discovery sessions to understand energy consumption patterns, operational challenges, and sustainability objectives.
- Translate energy data and operational requirements into compelling business cases and value propositions.
- Present energy optimization strategies focused on cost reduction, efficiency improvement, and sustainability outcomes.
Proposal Development & Commercial Negotiation
- Lead customer presentations, solution demonstrations, and commercial discussions with both operational and executive stakeholders.
- Develop and negotiate commercial agreements covering software, energy management solutions, energy storage systems, and related services.
- Drive opportunities through the full sales cycle to successful closure.
Energy Strategy Advisory
- Advise customers on energy market developments, utility tariff structures, demand management strategies, carbon reduction initiatives, and renewable energy adoption.
- Position integrated energy management solutions as a strategic component of customers' long-term operational and sustainability plans.
Channel & Ecosystem Development
- Establish and manage relationships with system integrators, EPC contractors, engineering consultants, energy service providers, and other strategic partners.
- Develop partner engagement models and joint go-to-market initiatives.
- Enable channel partners through training, sales support, and business development collaboration.
Forecasting & Business Planning
- Maintain accurate pipeline visibility, revenue forecasting, and CRM reporting.
- Provide regular business updates and strategic market insights to senior leadership.
- Contribute to annual business planning and growth strategy development.
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of B2B sales, business development, or account management experience serving industrial and manufacturing customers in Taiwan.
- Demonstrated success selling complex technical solutions, software platforms, industrial technologies, or energy-related solutions.
- Strong understanding of Taiwan's industrial market and customer buying processes.
- Proven experience managing both direct sales and partner/channel sales models.
- Strong commercial negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Fluent Mandarin and professional-level English communication skills.
- Ability to analyze business data, financial models, and ROI calculations to support customer decision-making.
- Established network within Taiwan's industrial, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, or technology sectors.
Preferred
- Experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Smart Metering, ESCO, Renewable Energy, Utilities, or Industrial IoT.
- Familiarity with energy efficiency projects, demand response programs, or distributed energy resources.
- Background in engineering, energy management, electrical systems, automation, software, or related technical disciplines.
- Experience working within an international technology or software organization.
- Existing relationships with large manufacturing groups, industrial end users, EPC firms, engineering consultants, or energy service providers.
