The Opportunity

To strengthen the Claims team, we are looking for an experienced Senior Claims Specialist in Specialty Lines. This role is based in Belgium, with flexibility to work from home and offices in major business hubs.

Your Responsibilities

In this position, you will take full ownership of complex claims within engineering insurance and specialty lines, managing them from initial notification to final settlement.

Key responsibilities include:

• End-to-end claims management

  • Handle claims across engineering insurance (e.g. construction risks, machinery breakdown) and related specialty lines
  • Assess claim details, determine coverage, and ensure accurate registration in internal systems
  • Drive the claim process through to resolution, including indemnification and closure

• Stakeholder coordination

  • Appoint and manage external experts, adjusters, and legal advisors where needed
  • Collaborate closely with brokers, clients, and internal teams throughout the lifecycle of a claim

• Monitoring and reporting

  • Maintain up-to-date reserves reflecting claim developments
  • Prepare internal reports on significant claims for senior management and underwriting teams
  • Provide claims insights and statistics to support underwriting decisions and policy renewals

• International collaboration

  • Coordinate claims linked to international insurance programs
  • Engage with global colleagues to ensure efficient and consistent claims handling

• Recovery and optimization

  • Identify subrogation opportunities and actively pursue recovery actions against liable third parties
  • Provide feedback on policy wording and propose improvements based on claims experience

• Knowledge sharing

  • Collaborate with peers to exchange expertise and continuously improve claims handling practices

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (engineering background is a strong advantage)
• Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering or specialty claims handling
• Solid understanding of construction techniques and technical risks
• Strong language skills in English, with additional European languages considered an asset
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team
• Excellent communication skills and a client-focused approach
• Proactive, resilient, and eager to learn
• Comfortable with digital tools and standard office software
