Our client in this search is a global leading manufacturer for high-performance suspension systems
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead the company’s Value Engineering program, ensuring performance targets are achieved at the lowest practical cost.
- Guide development teams to balance design performance and cost trade-offs in real time.
- Apply value engineering and design methods to identify opportunities for design simplification, material substitution, and process improvements.
- Partner with sourcing and supplier development teams to identify, qualify, and collaborate with suppliers that meet cost, quality, and innovation targets.
- Reverse engineer competitive and in-house products to identify key features, processes, and cost drivers.
- Actively pursue new technologies, suppliers, and methods to improve value across the product lifecycle.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops (VA/VE) to challenge assumptions, spark creativity, and generate actionable solutions.
- Establish metrics to measure value engineering outcomes (cost savings, quality improvements, performance optimization).
- Drive initiatives that support Company’s strategy to expand product lines for broader market accessibility while maintaining uncompromising performance standards.
- Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team focused on value engineering excellence.
Specific Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:
- Proven track record of successfully leading projects that delivered measurable cost and performance improvements.
- Strong knowledge of sourcing and supplier development, including collaborative development with suppliers to ensure quality and cost competitiveness.
- Technically proficient in engineering and design; able to make real-time trade-off decisions.
- Experience identifying and onboarding suppliers to meet cost and innovation targets.
- Demonstrated ability to reverse engineer products and processes to uncover cost drivers and opportunities.
- Open-minded and curious, with a demonstrated ability to seek multiple perspectives before making decisions.
- Relentless and driven, with a history of pushing for results and overcoming obstacles.
- Creative problem-solver, experienced in finding unconventional solutions to engineering and cost challenges.
- Collaborative leader, proven success working cross-functionally across engineering, supply chain, and business teams.
- Strategic thinker with attention to detail, able to balance long-term vision with near-term execution.
Position Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience: 10+ years of progressive engineering, product development, or value engineering experience with significant leadership responsibility, ideally within consumer electronics, automotive, outdoor equipment, or similar industries.
