We are looking for a National Account Manager to join a leading global FMCG company based in Toronto, Canada. You will play a strategic role in accelerating commercial growth, managing high‑impact customer relationships, and ensuring best‑in‑class execution across major national retail accounts. This position requires a seasoned commercial leader with strong negotiation capabilities, deep market knowledge, and the ability to influence cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced, international environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and management of key national retail accounts, driving revenue, market share, and profitability in line with company objectives.
- Conduct annual negotiations including Joint Business Plans (JBPs), trade terms, pricing strategies, and long‑term partnership agreements.
- Monitor customer performance (sell‑in, sell‑out, margins, promotional ROI, category trends) and provide strategic insights to senior leadership.
- Build tailored commercial plans for each account, ensuring alignment with Trade Marketing, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
- Oversee flawless execution of promotional calendars, product launches, customer programs, and visibility activations.
- Analyze category and shopper data to identify growth opportunities and strengthen the company’s position within key channels.
- Manage forecasting, budgeting, and investment planning to optimize financial performance and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with regional and global teams to ensure alignment on commercial strategy, reporting, and customer development priorities.
- Track competitive activity and market trends, anticipating challenges and contributing to strategic decision‑making at national level.
Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in National Account Management, Key Account Management, or Sales within FMCG, consumer goods, or a multinational environment.
- Proven track record managing major Canadian retailers (e.g., Loblaw, Walmart, Sobeys, Metro, Costco, Amazon).
- Strong commercial acumen with advanced negotiation, strategic planning, and analytical skills.
- Deep understanding of Canadian retail dynamics, trade terms, category management, and shopper behavior.
- Fluent in English; highly results‑driven, influential, and capable of navigating complex stakeholder environments.
- Strong leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
