Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to drive the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of advanced optical module programs for high-speed datacenter communication systems. You will bridge engineering, operations, and contract manufacturers (CMs) from proof of concept through DVT completion to ensure predictable, on-time execution.
Key Responsibilities
-
Program Leadership: Own the end-to-end program schedule, milestones, and risk tracking. Lead cross-functional teams (optical, electrical, mechanical, FW, reliability) through complex tradeoff discussions.
-
Technical Risk Management: Leverage a strong understanding of optical module architecture (thermal, mechanical, electrical, FW) to identify technical risks early and translate engineering challenges into actionable tasks.
-
Supplier & CM Management: Partner with internal DSP teams and JDM/CM partners to manage DSP allocation, build plans (EVT, DVT, PVT), build readiness, and weekly program syncs.
-
Product Readiness & NPI: Coordinate engineering validation, track reliability testing and failure analysis, and ensure a seamless handoff to operations and manufacturing ramp-up.
-
Documentation & Reporting: Maintain program dashboards, manage documentation control/ECOs via PLM systems, and publish weekly status reports with clear KPIs.
Minimum Qualifications
-
Education & Experience: B.S. in Electrical, Optics, or Communication Engineering, plus 7+ years of experience managing optical product programs.
-
NPI Expertise: Proven track record leading NPI for optical transceivers, high-speed modules, or complex electromechanical assemblies.
-
Industry Standards: Solid understanding of optical standards (QSFP-DD, OSFP, IEEE, CMIS) and manufacturing flows (SMT, wire bonding, fiber alignment, DVT).
-
PM Tooling: Skilled in schedule creation, risk mitigation, dependency mapping, and driving cross-functional alignment.
-
Language & Travel: Excellent communication and presentation skills in Mandarin and English; willingness to travel to JDM/CM factories for on-site build support.
Preferred Qualifications
-
M.S. in Engineering or an MBA with a program management focus.
-
Direct experience delivering 800G or 1.6T optical modules into mass production.
-
Experience collaborating with tier-1 cloud customers on module qualification.
-
Familiarity with PLM systems, ECO workflows, and interpreting complex technical schematics/drawings.
